Week 34

Baby is taking my breath away...literally. I feel like my lung capacity has shrunk in half over the past 2 days. Maybe I'll get lucky and not-so-little pea will decide to make an early arrival, which isn't hard to imagine consider they are currently kicking and punching in an apparent attempt to get the heck outta there.

How far along: 34 weeks
Total weight gain: 22ish
Maternity clothes: biggest decisions this week will be what to wear for maternity photos!
Stretch marks: haven't seen one yet!
Sleep: more tossing and turning but still relatively good
Best moment this week: loved partner yoga class!
Miss anything? taking a deep breath and being somewhat comfortable sitting down
Movement: baby is getting aggressive! Lots of stretching, rolling, jabbing of knees and elbows...
Food cravings: before I even knew I was pregnant, we went to an outdoor music festival. The best part of the entire 3 day weekend for me was discovering the most incredible ginger ice cream. And yes, I did get this ice cream each of the 3 days. I have missed it ever since. And my wonderful friends just gave me some for my birthday! Cannot wait to dig in!
Anything make you queasy or sick: no, but spicy food has been giving me heartburn!
Gender: can't wait to find out!
Labour signs: nope
Symptoms: tailbone pain (being in the car is the WORST), crushed lungs and stomach (no big meals or deep breaths for me!)
Belly button in or out: still in.......barely.
Wedding rings on or off: on
Happy or moody: happy but getting more uncomfortable :(
Looking forward to: my birthday! And maternity pics this weekend!!!

Week 33

Baby Pea had a great, relaxing Family Day weekend! This is the first February long weekend we've been home in a long time! Last year was our amazing trip to Thailand, the year before, a family trip to Cayman... Spoiled! While it will be nice not to be on a plane on my birthday (which also happened the last 2 years), the travel bug is setting in. We may or may not be spending a few hours planning our next trip as a result.....but that's another story!

How far along: 33 weeks
Total weight gain: probably around a solid 20.
Maternity clothes: this is a perfect example of my every day. Old Navy maternity shirt and my oldest, and therefore most stretched out and comfy, sweats!
Stretch marks: none!
Sleep: mostly good, except on the weekend. Woke up with sore hips again :(
Best moment this week: Family Day weekend! Catching up with friends and being lazy at home with the fam
Miss anything? hard to think about things I miss when I know how little time there is left to enjoy being pregnant!
Movement: still multiple hiccup sessions each day and lots of stretching!
Food cravings: food. All food. Feel like a bottomless pit these days...
Anything make you queasy or sick: nope
Gender: can't wait to find out!
Labour signs: none
Symptoms: dang tailbone pain and sometimes sore hips in the morning
Belly button in or out: still in!
Wedding rings on or off: on
Happy or moody: happyyy
Looking forward to: partner yoga class with Eric, early birthday celebrations this weekend!

Week 32

My new thing is going to be posting these "weekly" belly updates on an actual week by week basis. I have 8 to go. I can do this.

Valentine's Recap: Yes, I did wait until 6:00 (and 0 seconds) to open my note! Within the note were very sweet instructions on how even though I may not feel like getting dressed up to go out, we may not have many date nights out in the next little while so let's take advantage! I made my way downtown in the nasty pouring rain and we had a great dinner (Valentine's Day 4 course prix fixe? Well, don't mind if I do!)

Here's this week's post dinner pic, outside the closed nursery door. Less because of keeping the reveal a secret, and more because there is now simply no wall space available for a photo. Sigh.

Oh, and an FYI for maternity fashionistas...when you wear stripes (and really, what is out there in maternity wear that ISN'T stripes...), when taking a photo, ensure that your stripes are somewhat "lined up" to avoid looking like this:

Everyone loves an outtake.

How far along: 32 weeks
Total weight gain: will have to see at my next appointment, but I'm guessing I'm rapidly approaching the 20 lb mark...
Maternity clothes: here's one new wardrobe addition! Shh...it's not maternity. Maybe that's what's up with the mangled stripes.
Stretch marks: nope!
Sleep: good, except for the 5:40am stressing about not having milk morning....
Best moment this week: shopping day in Burlington with my mom and aunt! Got some great nursery decorations and baby will no longer go naked their first week of life with lots of new sleepers!
Miss anything? taking stairs without running out of breath, and my Valentine's meal was missing a glass of wine or cocktail :(
Movement: all. day. long. It's crazy to see a huge bulge in my side when baby stretches their feet out!
Food cravings: let's just say that ice cream did NOT last long.
Anything make you queasy or sick: nothing new
Gender: ?  we were lucky to find a FEW neutral outfits while shopping. Hope baby looks good in green!
Labour signs: none
Symptoms: still tailbone, BUT....I went to an osteopath today with no idea what to expect, and actually feel a bit better afterwards! I'm sure tonight's 2 hour drive home won't do me much good though...
Belly button in or out: still in! Eric lost his bet that it would be out by Valentine's Day.
Wedding rings on or off: on
Happy or moody: happyyy
Looking forward to: Family Day weekend with my fam! And the waffles I'm going to beg Mom to make for weekend breakfast :)

Love

Happy Valentine's Day! I've actually never been a huge fan of all the hearts and candy on February 14th, probably due to spending many a Valentine's Day sans a valentine. I may have been known to string up black hearts on my side of the room in university while my wonderful roomie received hoards of flowers and treats from her boyfriend (now hubby!). Even after Eric and I started dating, Valentine's was never a big focus since our anniversary was about a week earlier and my birthday falls at the end of the month. Lots of cards in February :)

What are our plans this year? I have NO IDEA. I have a love/hate relationship with surprises. So when Eric said about a month ago that he had an idea for Valentine's Day, it has of course been driving me insane ever since. I have also been known to ruin a surprise or two in the past, sometimes unintentionally, sometimes because of a little digging (I'll admit it!). This year, I am proud to say that I still have absolutely no clue what's in store for tonight. I have been told not to look at open computer screens (success!) and was left this note this morning, which miraculously remains unopened:

Let's start from the actual beginning of this day. I woke up at about 5:40am to pee, attempted to go back to sleep, thinking that it would be nice if I got up a bit earlier than usual to make my man a nice pancake breakfast. As I started to drift back to sleep......I remembered we were out of milk. Nice how forgetting to grab milk the night before proceeded to keep me awake for the next hour and a half. I cut my losses with the milk and eventually fell sort of back to sleep, but after waking up and seeing this surprise note, totally regret not dragging myself out of bed and down the street to the grocery store to get milk and make pancakes. I'm sorry love!

As I wrote Eric's card this afternoon, I had a little cry fest. Let's blame it on the pregnancy hormones. Heaven help us all with postpartum hormones mixed with lack of sleep... As incredibly happy and insanely excited I am for baby pea to arrive, I have always felt a little bittersweet about the fact that life with just the two of us is coming to an end. Wow, what is wrong with me...even typing that brings tears to my eyes!

Ok, I've composed myself. Over the past 6 years, this crazy man has gone from a friend, to more than a friend, to my first real boyfriend, to my best friend, to my first love, to my fiance, my husband, and now, the best Daddy-to-be around. We have been so fortunate to have had so many amazing adventures together. I think we can both look back on traveling together as some of our favourite memories, mainly because this was time spent just the two of us, interrupted by work, stress or other commitments, just time to be together.

A month or so into dating, we were pretty comfortable!

We have read The Five Love Languages (a great book!) and went through it in our marriage prep course. When considering these five love languages, my number one was extremely clear. Quality Time. All I want or need to feel loved from Eric is his time. Of course the other things are important, but secondary to just simply spending time together.

Freshly Engaged!!!

My biggest hope for this next big adventure with our little pea is that we can continue to make time, QUALITY time, for each other, and keep living our same crazy, adventurous, fun life, plus one. I hope that we will stay silly, keep making each other laugh, and end each night cuddled up close, just happy to be together.

Hello Toronto

One of the moments I am looking forward to most in these coming months is seeing the love of my life hold our little baby for the first time. I have no doubt it will be a defining moment in my life, and I can't wait to see these two meet and start what I know will be a very special bond. That magical moment will likely be interrupted by the fact that we still can't 100% agree on baby's name, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Happy Valentine's Day to all our friends and family, who we love so much! Happy first-ish Valentine's Day to my precious little pea, who is squirming and wiggling away in my belly. And most of all, a very Happy Valentine's Day to my husband, my best friend and my love. Let's see if I can make it to 6:00 before tearing into that note!!!

E + B = Baby Pea!  (...man my belly was tiny here...and this is when I "popped"!)

xoxo

Week 31

Baby Pineapple and I apologize for this tardy post. More to come this week, I swear!

How far along: 31 weeks
Total weight gain: I think 17 lbs...and counting!
Maternity clothes: managed to get some new basic tees from Old Navy so I'm fashionably pairing them with a variety of sweats.
Stretch marks: still staying away!
Sleep: still good, except the one night I must have slept funny and woke up with a crazy muscle knot/pain in my hip. Luckily it went away later that day. Also had another dream (have had the exact same one before) where baby is moving and stretching in my belly but my skin is so thin that when baby stretches out a hand or foot, I can see the outline of fingers or toes through my skin! So weird!
Best moment this week: spent an overnight at home which was a nice change of scenery, and got to catch up with my bestie!
Miss anything? I may have asked Eric if he could just take a turn growing baby for about 5 minutes and take on the belly....but otherwise, trying to soak in these last few weeks with my bump!
Movement: I thought baby may have run out of room when I felt less movement for a few days, but they're back! Lots of wiggles and stretches, more now in the morning, and at least once a day hiccups!
Food cravings: may have picked up a handful of sour watermelons while at Bulk Barn...and ice cream happened to be on sale...and hey, I haven't indulged in ice cream this entire pregnancy, so I figure I owe it to my bump.
Anything make you queasy or sick: keep the hard booze far away from me! Shots were poured this weekend at a friend's birthday and I literally held my breath to avoid the smell.
Gender: no new guesses this week, but still anxious to find out!!
Labour signs: none
Symptoms: myyyy taaiilllboonneee..... :(
Belly button in or out: still in
Wedding rings on or off: on
Happy or moody: happyyy
Looking forward to: Valentine's Day, hospital tour, doula consultation...busy week ahead!
